(and reconnected students to the college search process)

    - 10/08/2014
  •     Just a few years ago, the admissions world was buzzing with concern that the now “old” electronic recruitment tools were on the verge of becoming obsolete.  Remember the endless stories about how high school students were constantly on their laptops, spending all their time on Facebook and checking their email maybe (maybe!) once a week? •       Fresh on the trail of two powerful and widely-discussed articles, one by Eric Hoover in The Chronicle of Higher Education, the other by Scott Jaschik in Inside Higher Ed, there was an uneasy atmosphere leading up to the 2014 NACAC National Conference in Indianapolis this past week. • Student Search is the trailer, not the movie - 09/11/2014
  •     One of my favorite parts of working with a college or university on their student search is their enthusiasm at the prospect of having creative input and flexibility in their campaigns. What we typically hear early in the process is: “We should really link to that student video;” or “We want to make sure they know about the Open House;” or “We have to show a picture o   Read...

  •       These days, Student Search is not merely a Yes or No endeavor.  The world has moved well beyond the dichotomy of “responders” and “non-responders.” Like a VHS salesman desperately trying to pitch “big data,” its time has passed. There is a broad spectrum of interaction that students can – and often do – have with a Search campaign.  Many tip t   Read...
